This adapter ring has 16 teeth to generate a pulse for a standard 16 pulse per revolution speedometer gauge. As the teeth spin around on the CV joint they send a signal to the pulse sensor telling the speedometer how fast you are moving. This a great setup for vehicles that are no longer using the stock speedometer cable such as off road vehicles using after market spindles.
