Compatible with most brands of VHF radio such as Icom, Vertex, Rugged, PCI, and Kenwood. For optimal reception you need to have 19 inches of metal surface around the base of the antenna ( A 38 inch diameter circle ) for ground plane. You need to mount the antenna in the center of the roof so that the antenna projects a full 360 degrees around. If you mount the antenna toward the rear of the roof it will only reflect toward the front of the vehicle, resulting in reduced reception.
This cable is 12 feet long. It has a standard Coax connection. If the cable is too long for your vehicle you should cut the cable down and reconnect a PL-259 connection on the end of the cable. If you are unable to reconnect a PL-259 connection on this cable and prefer to loop the excess cable, the loops must be 10 inches or greater in diameter. When routing this cable, it must be ran away from intercom cables, HID light cables, or other power sources. Ideally you would run all electrical components on the driver side of the vehicle, and this antenna on the passenger side of the vehicle to prevent interference.
